Synopsis: The COVID-19 pandemic has gripped nations worldwide, impacting individuals of all races, genders, and ages. However, it seems to disproportionately affect low-income communities who face economic and social inequities. This study investigates the impact of socioeconomic factors on the spread of COVID-19 in the state of California. After extensively compiling publicly available COVID-19 and demographic data, correlations were observed through a data analysis approach. Through this analysis and literature review, this study found that urbanization, unemployment, historic redlining, and healthcare access impact the spread of COVID-19. Considering these disparities, distributing vaccines equitably will be critical in stopping the pandemic.
